Starting at the middle star in The Big Dipper’s handle, move southward until you encounter the faint stars of Canes Venatici, The Hunting Dogs (not to be confused with Canis Major and Canis Minor which appear on winter evenings farther to the south).

            Using techniques you learned in The Big Dipper, Your Key To The Night Sky, locate Arcturus in Boötes.  Now find the haunches (rear end) of Leo the Lion.  As shown in Figure 20, half way between those two places lies the constellation Coma Berenices, Bernice’s Hair.

As your last exercise for this month, locate Virgo using the method described under The Big Dipper, Your Key To The Night Sky.  Doing so will prepare you for some of your activities in June.
