As I mentioned earlier, there are two main classes of telescope: one class uses a large lens as its objective, while the other uses a large magnifying mirror. These two classes are further divided into types, each type being suited to a particular kind of observer. In the following section called Types of Telescopes we will discuss the way in which each type differs from the other.
